“In the long term, an honest and fair approach to doing business will always be the most profitable…" (Robert Bosch, 1921)
Representing a yearly purchasing volume of 27 billion Euros the competitiveness of our company also strongly depends on our suppliers. A large proportion of our product costs is determined by supplied parts. The ever-increasing cost pressure in the market has to be absorbed by continuously improving all the links in the supply chain. We expect our suppliers to work with us in addressing these challenges in the marketplace, and to contribute towards our mutual success by boosting productivity and avoiding waste.
Many material fields are bundled - based on a global strategy. This provides additional chances for our partners to use economies of scale to further reduce production cost. Regional suppliers are choosen to implement local-for-local concepts.
We also consider the competitive situation to expand our supplier portfolio - e. g. using transparent and fair auctions to award contracts to the best performing bidder. In certain cases we evaluated offers via detailed cost structure analysis to jointly find additional optimization potentials - in the best case during early development phases.
Project management purchasing with its technical background is our interface to all Bosch business units. During product development and in ratio projects they deliver specifications for the request for quotations (RfQ) of our commercial purchasing colleagues. Also preventive quality measures are planned by project management purchasing - in close cooperation with quality management.
